Revenue by Design
Revenue Management is often an overlooked
function amongst smaller properties and groups frequently because
of lack of resources or understanding. Creating a full time position
of Revenue Manager is not a viable proposition and responsibilities
are often given to the current Reservations Manager, without support
or training in the new skills required for this very different role.
Hotels often rely heavily on their electronic connectivity provider
as a source for Revenue Management. However this is concentrated
on the electronic channels only, which in many properties may only
be up to 10% of the whole production. Therefore up to 90% of bookings
are largely ignored. This trapped profitability can be released
with good Revenue Management practices.
Revenue by Design offer three main services which
can be implemented as a whole or a la carte, depending on an individual
property’s needs and budget.

Through the Audit we identify the hotel’s
required areas of development.
Through Programme Development
the hotel team develops the skills to create and implement a Revenue
Management culture.
Ongoing Coaching places
an experienced Revenue Manager within the hotel team with the goal
to transfer the necessary Revenue Management skills to the current
staff. This guides the staff in effective decision making, implementation
of best practices and to become self sufficient in optimising revenue.

Janel Hoskins
Revenue by Design co-founder Janel Hoskins is responsible for driving
revenue management consulting and strategies and takes on the role
of Operations Director and Director of Revenue Management. Janel, who brings her considerable
hotel revenue management experience to the table, has already helped
many clients realise maximum profitability within different business
models.
With more than 15 years experience in the hotel industry, Janel
has driven revenue growth for three, four and five star hotels throughout
the UK and Europe. Prior to forming Revenue By Design, Janel was
revenue manager EMEA for TravelClick, formally Vantis, where she
managed a broad portfolio of properties in 11 countries generating
annual revenues in excess of US$6.5m.
Prior to TravelClick, Janel
was group revenue manager for Sarova Hotels where she managed revenue
strategies, electronic distribution and EDS marketing campaigns.
She has also worked for global brands as Holiday Inn and Marriott
before concentrating on the independent hotel market.
Ally Dombey
Ally Dombey is a Director of Revenue by Design and
Managing DIrector of r sister company IFH UK Ltd.
Ally is a firm believer in the power of coaching to improve the
existing skills and knowledge base of individuals encouraging them
to build on their own resources. She holds a Diploma in Executive
Coaching from Management Futures and Revenue by Design will enable
her to make full use of her coaching skills to develop and enhance
revenue management skills across all clients.
